The aim is to get staff up to speed with using this collaborative tool. This workshop shows how to set up a meeting and how to create an agenda. MS Teams - Breakout Rooms

Breakout rooms are a way to separate participants into smaller meetings, either randomly or by organising them yourself – they are great for brainstorming. During this workshop we cover how to create and rename a Breakout Room, how to add extra Breakout Rooms and how to delete them. We will explain how to set participants to be sent to rooms, how to open them and how to switch participants between rooms. We will cover how to send an Announcement to all Breakout Rooms so everyone in all rooms are informed of changes or news during their breakout sessions. We will show how the organiser can jump between rooms and record them and what attendees can and cannot do in a Breakout room. Lastly we’ll show you how to close your Breakout Rooms.

It is aimed at anyone who is familiar with Microsoft Office applications and who needs to work with data to be able to connect, process and analyse the data to produce suitable output at all levels. It is assumed that attendees on the course are already familiar with charts and PivotTable concepts. The course can also be delivered virtually, bespoke to your Teams set up and can be expanded to include other Office 365 apps too.

Power BI - Intermediate Level

This workshop is aimed at those who have a good knowledge of Power BI and want to take their skills to the next level learning about DAX formulas. It is assumed that attendees on the course are already familiar with Power BI. The course can also be delivered virtually, bespoke to your Teams set up and can be expanded to include other Office 365 apps too.

MS Excel – Getting Started

This workshop takes a learner with no prior knowledge of Excel to being able to perform simple calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and add up a column or row of data. It also covers how to work out the minimum, maximum and average in a range of cells. This session covers the importance of understanding which order calculations are performed in. It explains how to centre headings, format numbers and understand about fixing cells. Lastly it covers viewing and amending page breaks.

MS Excel – Working with Worksheets and Workbooks

This workshop is a follow on from the Getting Started session and shows learners how to manipulate worksheets, how to format multiple worksheets as well as perform calculations across them. Learners will also learn how to perform calculations across workbooks.

MS Excel – More functions

Intended for those who are familiar with the basic functions but want to extend their knowledge with others to make more use of Excel. Using the IF functions to nest formulas to perform calculations if certain criteria are met i.e. if the total exceeds £3,000 then give a 2% bonus otherwise give 0. Learning how to count up contents in cells, using criteria. Other useful functions included are how to join cell contents together, amend the case of text i.e. change from lowercase to proper or upper. Delegates will also learn how to future proof calculations to avoid errors showing. Delegates will also learn how to always round down and also learn how to keep an eye on a total cell that is out of sight. Learning about the DSUM, DMIN, DMAX and DCOUNT allows you to be selective about which items you include i.e. if your list contains hundreds of entries you might ask DSUM to only add up those entries in January.

MS Excel – Manipulating & Analysing Data

It covers how to visually format data to stand out showing trends, how to protect and prevent data from being edited in certain cells and also adding validation to only allow certain entries i.e. certain dates or only from a list of entries. Great if you need to share a spreadsheet and but need control over what is allowed.

MS Excel – Pivot Tables and Charts

For those who work with large amounts of data and need to be able to summarise and cut and slice the information quickly. It also covers how to create Pivot charts to allow the data to be changed at the click of your mouse.

MS Excel – Charts

For those who need to visually display information rather than looking at numbers. Also includes how to save time by linking charts into other applications which will automatically update when the workbook is changed.

MS Excel - Timesavers

Aimed at those who are at an introduction level or self-taught and want to learn new skills to make working with Excel quicker and easier. This workshop covers how to name cells to make formulas easier to read, how to create a list to avoid retyping entries that are frequently used. It also includes how to format ranges of data as well as creating a master spreadsheet that can be used over and over. Lastly how to summarise data from various workbooks is also covered.

MS Excel - Data Validation and Conditional Formatting - NEW

This workshop shows how Conditional formatting can help make patterns and trends in your data more apparent i.e. red is applied to numbers over 100, format cells with dates in, use formulas with conditional formatting and even highlight blank cells and entire rows. We also cover how to you can use Data Validation to restrict the input of data, lock and unlock cells, protect worksheets and use input messages and error alerts.

MS Excel - Macros

Intended for those who are at a competent level of Excel and now want to automate tedious repetitive tasks. This workshop includes what you should be considering before starting a recording, planning your steps, starting the recording, running the recording back and assigning it to the Quick Access Toolbar or a button in your workbook.


For those who need to refer to information that already exists in other places and have it automatically update. VLOOKUPS and HLOOKUPS are covered in this virtual class as well as INDEX and MATCH. We also explore the new benefits of using XLOOKUP which is a new function within the LOOKUP series and highlights the advantages of using it.

Aimed at those who are familiar with pivots and working with large amounts of data but now would like to be able to summarise it as an overview page. Having learnt different topics in Excel this workshop brings together different options into one place to dynamically show high level overviews,

MS Excel - Working with Dynamic Arrays - NEW

Imagine having a spreadsheet with lots of data where you need to extract certain fields of information. If you are already familiar with using functions, we now take you to a new level and work with dynamic array formulas (formulas that can return arrays of variable size are called dynamic array formulas) which allow you to perform multiple calculations on one or more items in an array. We will explore functions like Small and Large, Unique, Filter and Sort and see how they spill to return values to neighbouring cells. Delegates must have a good working knowledge of using functions before attending this workshop.

MS Excel – Working with Tables - NEW

This workshop will change the way you work with data in MS Excel. It’s aimed at those who are already familiar with the basics of Excel and are ready to take their knowledge to the next level. We will explore topics such as rules before creating a table, formatting your table, adding new rows and columns, Filtering and Sorting, adding Slicers, Pivot Table/Charts, data validation (dropdown lists), Conditional Formatting, differences in the Desktop app and web and understanding Structured References.

MS Excel – Recording and Playing Macros - NEW

This workshop is designed for those who have tasks in Microsoft Excel that are frequently repeated and want to make it quicker and eliminate errors. A macro is an action or a set of actions that you can run as many times as you want to record your mouse clicks and keystrokes. We will explore topics such as Macros explained, scripting, trust settings, developer tab, recording and naming Macros, Absolute v Relative Macros, creating buttons to play Macros and looking at the code.

MS Excel – Cleansing Data - NEW

The data you use in Excel is of paramount importance. Things can easily go wrong be it the structure, placement, formatting or extra spaces. This workshop is designed for those who need to manipulate and extract data by using various Excel tools. To attend you should have a good basic knowledge of Excel and must be conversant with creating basic formulas. We will explore topics such as trim, removing duplicates, text to columns, working with blank cells, Conditional Formatting to find errors, clearing all formatting, find/replace and convert numbers stored as text.

MS Excel – Managing large Worksheets - NEW

What prints isn’t necessarily what you see on the screen. We look at everything to do with setting up spreadsheets for printing, as well as different views and settings to help you when working with larger spreadsheets. We will explore topics such as Workbook views, printing selection, page break preview, freezing and splitting panes, arranging windows, inserting/editing/printing notes, creating/editing a named range, page setup options including header & footers, scaling, margins, printing gridlines, setting print titles, setting print areas/print selection and saving as a PDF.

Excel 2016 Introduction to Visual Basic for Applications

This workshop is designed for those who need to know how to write macros using VB code. It covers how to record a macro using the Macro Recorder, record a macro using relative and absolute cell references. It also covers where to store the macro, how to assign it to a shortcut key and how to delete macros. It then goes on to show how to use VB to create and edit Macros and the concepts of storing macros. Also covered is how to use the VB Editor and access help. It also shows how to close the Editor and understand about Macro Security. This workshop takes a learner with little or no prior knowledge of Word and helps them understand the environment to enable them to create, save and open documents. Basic character formatting techniques are covered.

MS Word – Paragraph Formatting

Aimed at those who need to work more efficiently with Word to save time formatting. This workshop covers how to work with paragraphs quickly and easily without doing tasks the long way round.

MS Word – Document Formatting

Intended for those who need to format documents efficiently and take advantage of the options that Word has to offer to make documents look professional. It covers how to add page borders and shading and how to quickly change from portrait to landscape. Delegates will learn how to control pagination and page numbering.
